I read the post by Denton explaining Gawker’s side post verdict. If I remember correctly he covered a lot of the stuff the judge wouldn’t permit in the case but were unsealed after the case so they could now talk about it.

Basically he said hogan sued because he didn't want his racist stuff getting out which was contained in those previously sealed documents.

If they were unsealed after the verdict wouldn’t that still be grounds to sue if they were brought up in court? I’m not sure I understand...

It’s my understanding if anything is unsealed it becomes public record and anything that is public record can be accessed by the General public.

Generally speaking you can go to where public records are kept in your jurisdiction and request things related to government or sometimes court cases.

In this instance I’m assuming gawker already had the files but were barred from releasing them to the public until after the fact. Even if they had not, there was nothing stopping another media outlet like TMZ going down to the courthouse and getting files that were unsealed.

I’m confused, the headline says they were sealed and then leaked, is that not what happened? It also says gawker denies that claim so who knows?

Hogan is apparently suing Gawker for releasing unsealed documents.

Denton wrote a post covering newly unsealed documents that were previously not allowed out to the public.

I don't know if the documents on both sides are the same or if each is referring to different documents. I don't know if hogan is just trying to get everything he can or if he has an actual case.

Hey. So I did a little research to clarify things.

In 2015 the Enquirer published a story (and audio I think) of Hogan saying racist crap. That led to him being fired from WWE and removed from their hall of fame.

At the time, that information was sealed by the courts. Hogan is alleging and suing Gawker because he believes they “leaked” the information to the Enquirer to publish since they couldn’t.

This information is now unsealed but at the time it was not and that is what this is about.

Who knows, he could be telling the truth and actually wanting justice, he was removed from the hall of fame and that shit, maybe it’s a cash grab (because we all know that’s the case sometimes), but idk what it’s like to have that much money, idk, you very well could be right.
